convention in a stadiumAll around the world in the summer of 2017 Jehovah´s Witnesses will gather in stadiums for their conventions.

Ordinarily we don´t know the content of the talks before the convention, and I remember thinking: I wish the talk outlines were available because some of the talk titles that I have seen on the program really piqued my interest.

Well, guess what! The talk outlines have been leaked on the internet, and they reveal some very important things which I want to get out there …

I am going to cover the main points and the 2017 baptism questions also.

Important information! There are some things you need to know if you are considering attending the convention in your area. Honestly, I have been shocked! Things look so different when you look at the information from the outside …

The Governing Body has a tleast 8 million people as their audience; so lets assume they are in a similar position as the Apostele Peter, in the sense that they need to give out the message that Jesus taught his disciples to give.

Will They Give This Message in 2017 ?

Peter speaks in front of a crowdWell, here is the message the early church taught. The Apostle Peter said in Acts 4:11, 12:

"This Jesus is ‘the stone that was treated by you, the builders, as of no account that has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Furthermore, there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved."

And the Apostle Paul says:

"For we are preaching, not about ourselves, but about Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake." (2 Corinthians 4:5)

So as I read through the talk outlines, I was keen to see if the Watchtower gives this good news to the millions who will attend this convention.

What message are the Jehovah´s Witnesses going to hear at this convention?

FridayLet´s start with Friday´s talks:

The entire convention is about endurance, so there´s obviously a lot of focus on how to endure various trials.
The morning is mainly about preaching from house to house. [...]

We´ll skip now to the talk which jumped out at me straight away in the morning, entitled:

"Jehovah – the Greatest Example of Endurance"

Jesus suffered for usAre you wondering – like I did– , why it doesn´t say: "Jesus – the greatest example of endurance?" We know, Jesus endured so much: Not only did He leave His position in heaven to become a man; He suffered and died a brutal, horrific death, bearing the sins of the world in his body.

So why is Jehovah the greatest example when the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 2 verse 21 :

"In fact, to this course you were called, because even Christ suffered for you, leaving a model for you to follow his steps closely." ?

So how are they saying that Jehovah has endured more than Jesus?

They give 9 points in the talk outline, 9 things that Jehovah has chosen to endure, and here is the list of the 9 things that Jehovah has had to endure:

  1. The reproach brought on His name
  2. The opposition to His souvereignty
  3. Disappointment over th rebellion of some of his heavenly and earthly children
  4. The taunts of the devil
  5. Seeing the suffering of his cherished servants
  6. The pain of temporary separation from thousands of faithful servants who have died
  7. Witnessing the oppression of the weak and defenceless by the wicked
  8. Observing the degradation of humans
  9. Seeing the ruining of the earth

And you realize that not one of these 9 points even mentions the suffering and death of Jesus.

It is like Jesus never existed!

And point 5 is unbelievable. They mention Him seeing the suffering of His servants, and they don´t mention Him seeing the suffering of His OWN SON ! The rest of the talk basically ignores what Jesus did.

It´s mind-boggling that an organization which claims to be Christian is saying that Jehovah is our greatest example of endurance – not JESUS!

"For among the first things I handed on to you was what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; 4 and that he was buried, yes, that he was raised up on the third day according to the Scriptures." (1. Korinther 15:3,4)

So far on the Friday the good news has not been given, and I was hoping that in the afternoon there might be more, to help the millions listening to find salvation.

FridayThe talk "Enduring Unjust Treatment" gives an example of a person who was treated injustly, and the first person who comes to mind, is Jesus. But instead the Watchtower choose David as the example of someone who is treated unjustly.

There is something interesting about the people they chose as examples for us in this convention – which will become clearer as we go along.

In the next talk about "Imperfections" listeners are told to fight against imperfections. The problem here is that human beings can fight and fight and fight against imperfections forever, but if they don´t put faith in Jesus Christ, they will never receive forgiveness.

Then finally Jesus is mentioned in this talk as follows. The outline says:

"Paul was profoundly grateful for Christ´s sacrifice by which God covers over sins. Because of the ransom, we can endure despite our imperfections."

This seems okay.

But does this statement tell people how they can be forgiven? Does it tell us that when we put faith in Jesus Christ, we´re forgiven of our sins? Does it tell us to pick up our cross and follow Jesus like Jesus told us to?

While giving Jesus´ sacrifice a token mention here, we still haven´´ had a talk which points to HIM as the way of salvation.

FridayIn fact, this is now confirmed by a statement next makein the section on "Enduring under Persecution". They say this:

"Endurance leads to your salvation!"

NO. Endurance does not lead to your salvation, Watchtower –
faith and trust in Jesus Christ lead to salvation!

The Apostle John in 1 John 5:1 says:

"Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ,
is born of God,"

and in verse 5 he says:

"Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"

So, NO, Watchtower, endurance does NOT lead to salvation!

[Saved by GRACE through faith – Ephesians 2:8]

Making this worse, they then quote Romans 5:3-5 which speaks about endurance. However, they ignore the first two verses of Romans chapter 5, which say:

context puzzle"Therefore, now that we have been declared righteous as a result of faith, let us enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we also have obtained access by faith into this undeserved kindness in which we now stand; and let uns rejoice, based on the hope of the glory of God." - Romans 5:1,2

Well, you cannot separate the Scriptures about endurance from the two verses just before, which clearly point to our salvation coming from Jesus Christ!

SaturdayFriday´s talk outlines were bad enough, but Saturday´s talk outlines are monumentally worse …

Jesus embracing a personSaturday morning´s talk about "The Weak and Depressed" asks this question:

"What does Jehovah provide for those who need comfort?"

They answer:

  1. Prayer
  2. The brotherhood
  3. Hope
  4. Holy Spirit

Christians! Who does Jehovah provide for those weak and depressed? Yes: JESUS! Do you see him on that list?

In fact, throuhout the entire morning different needs are discussed, and Jesus is not mentioned as being the one who saves us and comforts us.

SaturdayNow to the Baptism talk. These mostly young people who believe they make a dedication to the true God are told about the provisions of Jehovah. They are asked:

"What has Jehovah provided?"

Well, this is what Jehovah has provided according to the talk outline:

  1. Prayer (apparently access to "unrestricted prayer", now they are baptized)
  2. Bible study
  3. Meetings and ministry

These are the provisions of Jehovah to the newly baptized.

They are missing the glaringly obvious provision of His Son Jesus. Nothing in this baptism talk leads the candidates to Jesus as their Savior. This means that basically they would not be saved, worse: they´re not baptized in the name of the Fathe, Son and Holy Spirit as directed by Jesus himself!

Why are Watchtower not following the simple instruction of Jesus himself? (Matthew 28:19,20)

The baptism questions are asked of the candidates, asking them to take a solemn vow publicly, and this year the questions are as follows:

"1. On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do His will?"

See, they do preach the Gospel, right?

Well – NO, because as we´ve seen, Jehovah´s Witnesses are not taught the truth about what Jesus did or what his sacrifice means.

One of my other videos covers this in more depth, but basically Jehovah´s Witnesses are taught that sins are wiped out when they die a physical death, which basically makes Jesus´ sacrifice UNNECESSARY, and they are also taught that he only died to pay for Adam´s sin.

The Bible rather tells us that he bore OUR sins, your sins in his body. He paid for the sins of the world, and because HE took your punishment you can be made righteous today. This doesn´t require works, as Galatians chapter 3 makes very clear.

From a sound faith (tree) good works (fruits) are sprouting

Our works spoken of in in James 2:24, come from the faith.

and that´s why faith without works is dead, becaus faith with works is proof of the faith that is alive, proof of real faith.

So, this baptism question asks for repentance of sins and dedication to Jehovah, it does NOT ask for faith in Jesus Christ, which is necessary for salvation.

The second baptism question proves that Jehovah´s Witnesses are baptized into an organisation, and this is not only idolatry, but once again it violates Jesus´ command:

"2. Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehova´s Witnesses in association with God´´ spirit-directed organisation?"

Notice what identifies a person as a Jehovah´s Witness: It is the dedication to Jehovah and the baptism. It is NOT faith in Jesus Christ.

As a Christian I find it disgusting that Jesus could be demoted it such blatant ways. He is largely ignored throughout this convention.

SaturdayIn the afternoon on Saturday they give four human examles for endurance. Surely Jesus will be incuded here as an example.

Eh … NO.

Now, here is the thing that I wanted to say about whom they chose as an example during this convention: Nearly all the examples are from the Hebrew Scriptures.

mary mourning"That´s not too bad", you might think.

However, the problem here is that if you give only Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures examples, you never tell the listener that the person relied on Jesus to help them endure. If they had chosen Paul, Peter, John or Mary for example, they had been in the position to tell us how these people relied on Jesus and what he had done for us.

Joseph as a slaveAnother thing is when they DO give Old Testament examples, they never talk about how that person prefigured Jesus. Joseph e.g. is mentioned, but nothing is said about how Joseph prefigured Jesus in over 30 different ways

SaturdayA worse slap in the face comes later on Saturday when they even go so for as to use animals and trees as things that will teach us about endurance while still not having mentioned JESUS´s EXAMPLE of ENDURANCE.

There is one very insightful comment made in the talk outlines on camels, however … ;-) It says:

"Do not allow yourself to become malnourished spiritually
while surrounded by plenty."

a plate full of paper foodWow.YES, this is what is happening during this entire convention:

If you don´t have JESUS CHRIST, you have NOTHING.

The Bible tells us that the way to the Father is through Jesus. And Watchtower know what they are doing, I´m convinced. The ignoring of Jesus and demoting Him continually can not be an accident.

photo of an islamic conventionYou know, at the convention, it might as well be an islamic convention because they believe Jesus was a good man and a prophet, but they don´t put faith in Him as God´s Son, and they don´t put Him in the proper place. Or maybe the convention would be a Jewish convention, listening to lots of Old Testament examples of faith with no mention of Jesus.

But hang on! There is a little glimmer of hope in the talk about "alpine trees". The statement is made:

"Become rooted in Christ Jesus by building your faith on his teachings and example."

Wow. I like this. Finally they are throwing peolpe a srap of actual spiritual meat.

However notice: This still isn´t the Gospel. It says:

"Build your faith in his teachings and example."

That´s not putting your faith in HIM, and that He has saved you from your sins.

Jesus King of kingsI find the Watchtower carefully wording things to ensure that Jesus is always thought of as a good man to imitate and NOT thought of as our LORD of lords and KING of kings.

He is our ruling King,
He is high and lifted up, exalted,
worthy of all praise!

Why hasn´t Watchtower mentioned that in three days worth of talks?

Saturday Saturday finishes with the Children´s Talk, and again Jesus isn´t mentioned at all.

The entirety of Saturday was basically a banquet UNSPIRITUAL food, carving spiritual malnourishment.

Sunday Sunday is the most attended day by the public, so you always find some more mainstream ideas thrown in for good measure.

Early in the day we are given 8 essetials for enduring and winning the race for life. And funnily enough, none of those 8 essential things includes Jesus!

Presumably we can win our race for life without Him …

a timer showing 3 minutes

Then finally in the section on "Imitate good examples", Jesus´s example of endurance is finally mentioned!

On the talk outline the number of minutes allocated to each section is given, and Jesus´s example of endurance is given ...

... 3 minutes.

Wow. I mean … for the entire three-day convention we have seen that they focus on many different human, animal and even tree examples of endurance … and Jesus´s example of endurance gets THREE minutes ?!?

In those 3 minutes, while His sufferings are mentioned, we are still not given the actual Gospel message … unreal!

SundayThen the outline says we must "Eat nutritious food" to help us win the race. We must apparently feed on Bible principles. What came to mind here is this Scripture:

loaf of bread"Jesus said to them:
"I am the bread of life. Whoever comes TO ME will not get hungry at all, and whoever exercises FAITH IN ME will never get thirsty at all."
(John 6:35)

Does the talk mention this Scripture? No. It tells us that our spiritual food comes from Bible principles, using theocratic tools, such as

  • "Research Guide for Jehovah´s Witnesses",
  • Watchtower Online [the website] and
  • Watchtower Library [the CD-ROM].

And once again, the Jehovah´s Witnesses are left starving spiritually because they are not directed to Jesus, the bread of life.

And in the "Drink water" section of the talk they say that Jehovah provides us water. Apparently the ransom is a "primary component" of this water of life.

Well – NO.

The ransom is a phrase that Jehovah´s Witnesses benutzen for what Jesus did, but HERE is the source of the water of life:

Woman drinking water"On the last day, the great day of the festival, Jesus stood up and he called out: "If anyone is thirsty, let him come TO ME and drink. 38 Whoever puts faith IN ME, just as the scripture has said: ‚From deep within him streams of living water will flow.' " (John 5:37, 38)

Here we see: It is JESUS who provides us with living water, through faith in Him and through the Holy Spirit, and we can only receive Holy Spirit if we put faith in Jesus. Once again Watchtower leaves their listeners malnourished by not ointing them to our Savior.

SundaySo finally, we are at Sunday afternoon, and the public discourse is really important. The outline starts by welcoming those who are new and who might never have heard a talk by Jehovah´s Witnesses. Think about those thousands of people who have got no faith at the moment probably and who need to hear the Gospel.

Jesus schaut dich anWell, the talk outline asks the question:

"What hope does the Bible offer?"

They answer:

"Hope for a happy, beneficial way of life now (Is 48:17) and hope for the future (Jer 29:11)."

Then the kingdom of God is mentioned, and we are told about the nice things that it will bring.

At this point I am wondering:

How are they going to get into the kingdom of God
owithout putting faith in the KING of that kingdom
, Jesus?

Then the outline asks:

"How can you make the hope offered in the Bible your own?"

Well, my answer, Watchtower, is:
That they believe in JESUS CHRIST.

But Watchtower´s answer is:

"Examine the promises for yourself, have a Bible study and become a friend of God."

desperate man sitting on the floorAll of those new people here in that Sunday talk will go home unsaved, unaware of the wonderful provision of God through His Son Jesus Christ, unaware that they can be part of God´s kingdom now.

Christians do believe in the kingdom of God. We just don´t think it is only coming later. We know that upon believing, we become children of God and a part of that kingdom now, seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, spiritually speaking, as Ephesians 2:6 tells us:

"And He has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

It is wrong to deny JesusOverall, I believe this convention could not be more obvious in its denial of
– who Jesus is,
– what Jesus did and
– how we can be saved.

In fact, the words of Peter come to mind again. Speaking to those opposed to Christians, he said:

"The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. 14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the Author of Life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses." (Acts 3:13-15)

In a similar way it seems … it seems ...
... Jesus is being denied by the Watchtower.

convention speaker traurig

If you attend and you listen to each talk, ask yourself whether you are hearing the real good news. Jesus said:

"I am the way, the truth and the life:
Noone comes to the Fathe EXCEPT THROUGH ME."
(John 14:6)

And this definitely does NOT mean saying, "In Jesus´s name" at the end of a prayer. It means Jesus is your Lord and Savior, HE is your shepherd, the author and perfecter of your faith, as Hebrews 12:2 tells us.

Do you know Him? Do you know Jesus?

If you don´t know him, choose to know him, repent of your sins and pray to God to forgive you of your sins in Jesus´s name. Then resolve to follow Jesus.

several Bible translations

"Do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man,
who cannot bring salvation."
(Psalms 146:3)

Do not follow an earthly organisation,

but rather read your Bible without any other books or magazines, pray to God to help you see the truth of Scripture by means of His Holy Spirit. You can then agree with the Apostle Paul who said:

"... It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who is living in union with me. Indeed, the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and handed himself over for me." (Galatians 2:20)

I really hope this video has helped to open people´s eyes to what is really being taught by Watchtower.

God bless you! Bye.
